ABOUT US

ITF (Indonesia Transportation Forum) is a forum for Indonesian professionals (or Indonesian born professionals) to meet and discuss the actual development of the transportation sector in Indonesia. ITF was formed in 2012 as a non-profit organization. ITF members are willing to share their knowledge and experiences for Indonesia.

ITF would like to act as a bridge between Indonesian and Dutch professionals. ITF also encourage the Indonesian and Dutch transportation professional to joint and cooperate together to help the improvements of the transportation sector in Indonesia.

Railway development is our main discussion, why...?

Compared to air, sea and highway transportation, the railway transportation system in Indonesia is heavily under developed. Railway infrastructure in Java and Sumatra are still utilizing the old infrastructures and equipments from before the WW2, overall condition of the infrastructure is poor.  Therefore, railway infrastructure must be modernized step by step to improve the safety and efficiency.

Railway as an efficient and sustainable transportation system should play an important role in transporting people and goods, between cities and in the cities as well (rail based public transportation system).

Currently, PT Kereta Api (Indonesian state railway) is the only railway operator in Indonesia.
